I was one of 50 ‘Wild Card’ entries to a heat of #LAOTY 2022! This took place at Compton Verney last July. While I cannot say anything about pictures produced on the day before transmission I can say it was a great experience brilliantly organised by Storyvault Films. It was a long day – starting around 7am to check in and finishing around 4pm.
Once we were signed in that morning, we did the well-known group walk on of the ‘Wild Cards’. We were all people who did not make it to be one of the main six artists in each heat but were nevertheless given the chance to take part. It was great to be with so many artists working in many different styles on what turned out to be a relatively warm day in what was a pretty poor summer.
What was great was to see how much time and effort the judges made to wander around the ‘Wild Cards’ – almost looked like they enjoyed that more than looking at the main artists! It was an experience to remember. You can spot me when the show is on Sky Arts on 9th February 2022!
