Three Paintings for the Wotton Art Exhibition 2026

I am delighted to be exhibiting three paintings at the Wotton Art Exhibition 2026, which takes place at Chipping Hall, Wotton-under-Edge, on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August.

Although the paintings were created at different times and depict different locations, they all explore themes that continue to inspire much of my work: changing light, atmosphere, reflection and the fleeting beauty of sunrise and sunset.

Sunrise, Commonmead Lane

This painting was inspired by an early morning walk near Chipping Sodbury. I wanted to capture the quiet stillness of dawn and the dramatic contrast between silhouetted trees and the emerging light of the new day.

Winter Sunrise, Sodbury Common

Painted from observations made on Sodbury Common, this work explores the way low winter sunlight transforms a familiar landscape. The dark silhouetted branches frame the rising sun and emphasise the transient nature of the moment.

Sunrise, Lyme Regis Harbour

This painting captures the changing light over Lyme Regis harbour at sunrise, with reflections shimmering across the water and the harbour structures reduced to simple silhouettes against the brightening sky.

Although each painting stands independently, together they form a small series exploring the changing qualities of light and atmosphere across different landscapes.
