I’m delighted to be taking part in the Yate Art Open 2025, which runs from 9–30 September at Yate Heritage Centre. The exhibition brings together work from over 50 local artists and makers, showcasing everything from painting and drawing to textiles and mixed media. It’s always an inspiring event, celebrating the range of creativity in our community.
This year I’m contributing three of my recent paintings:
Batsford Arboretum, Spring – a woodland scene capturing dappled light and the fresh vitality of new growth, inspired by a visit earlier this year.

Batsford Arboretum Sunrise, Portway Lane, Sodbury Common – a painting of one of my favourite local walks, with the early morning sun breaking through dramatic skies.

Sunrise, Portway Lane Sunrise, Sodbury Common – a looser, more expressive piece focusing on the colours and atmosphere of the rising sun over the Common.

Being part of the Yate Art Open is a chance not only to share my own work, but also to enjoy the creativity of so many others. It’s very different from our u3a Art Group exhibitions – here you see a wide variety of styles and media, all under one roof.
The exhibition is free to visit, with the Heritage Centre open Tuesday to Thursday and Saturdays, usually 10am–4pm. It’s right in the heart of Yate, next to the shopping centre. If you’re in the area, I’d encourage you to drop in – you might discover a new favourite artist, or even take home an artwork for yourself.
